When we feel ourselves getting angry or frustrated, taking a few deep breaths can help to diffuse the situation and keep us from losing our cool

Count to 10

Counting to 10 gives us a moment to pause and collect our thoughts before responding to a situation. It can also help to prevent us from saying something we may regret later.

If things are getting too heated, it can be helpful to leave the room for a few minutes. This will give both you and your child some time to cool off.
